Ok…Michael Vick spoke out against the new android game about dog fighting.  The cellphone app is called “Dog Wars” and was built to run on Google’s android software.

“I’ve come to learn the hard way that dogfighting is a dead-end street,” Vick said in a statement posted on the Humane Society‘s website. “Now, I am on the right side of this issue, and I think it’s important to send the smart message to kids, and not glorify this form of animal cruelty, even in an Android app.”

The app created by Cage games has a pic of a bloody Pit Bull‘s muzzle next to the logo.  How nice…and when asked why they thought it necessary to glorify a such a despicable act they responded as follows:

“Perhaps one day we will make gerbil wars or beta fish wars for people who can’t understand fantasy role play games,” it says.

Sighhhh…here’s the thing “game creators”… fighting beta fish and gerbils are not against the law, and doesn’t glorify the torture of our our most devoted companions.  Surely the creator’s of the game understand that young people are easily influenced and may view”Dog Wars” as a segway into the real thing.  I get their strategy…make such a despicable game that bloggers and news stations will give them lots of attention and these kids will RUN to their APP store and download it.

As for Vick…nice statement. I heard you say more about how you think you deserve to be on the cover of Madden 2012 or should have been voted MVP.  He stated he learned the hard way dogfighting is a dead end street.  It always comes back to how dogfighting “affected” him.  Poor guy, he learned after 20 years dog fighting is a dead-end. It wasn’t while watching the dog’s suffer a horrible death by his own hands, or when torturing dogs to death because they didn’t show game.  I still don’t believe him…I believe he speaks against dog-fighting because it gets him endorsements…not because he truly thinks it is a horrific act.

As for the APP game…we have games shooting police officers and running over pedestrians, so is this such a stretch?  Unfortunately…it’s not.  But there is still something sickening about it and yes…I will be one of the bloggers speaking out against it.

Oh yeah…and I’m sure Vick will end up with another endorsement because of his “strong” stance against dog-fighting.  I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.
